Lagos State University (LASU), Ojo, has rolled out schedules for students’ resumption ahead of the September 14, 2020 date stipulated by the state government.
The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Olanrewaju Fagbohun, said students would resume in batches to meet the physical distancing guideline of the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC).
Fagboun said that students in 400, 500 and 600 levels would resume first before other levels of students would come onboard.
The 400, 500 and 600 level students would resume for two months with intensive lectures starting from 9:00 a.m. till 3:00 p.m. daily for those that live off-campus.
After the completion of 400, 500 and 600 levels resumption, students in 200 and 300 levels would resume for two months of lectures before the commencement of examinations.
According to the vice chancellor, resumption for students in 200 and 300 levels was divided into different days of the week.
On Mondays and Wednesdays, 300 level students would be on campus for lectures. On Tuesdays and Thursdays, 200 level students would be on campus in order to maintain physical distancing.
Fagbohun said the decision was in a bid to protect the lives of the students and members of staff to prevent contracting the coronavirus disease.
The VC, who noted that all precautionary measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19 had been put in place by the management, said: “Hand washing is very important as the university has provided taps and soap dispenser. The use of face mask is compulsory in line with the NCDC requirement.”
